I'm in Vietnam!!! After more than 20 hours in flight, I finally made it here. It was about 2 in the morning when I got into the airport, and my friend Anne's aunt and cousin were there at the airport to pick me up. Her cousin speaks some english, but it was hard for us to understand each other.

After not sleeping at all that night, I met the rest of the people in the program the next morning. There are two girls and one guy, and they are so nice and fun to be around. We've spent most of our time together the past two days, eating meals and exploring the city. Me and one of the girls walked around for a couple of hours yesterday. At first we were just exploring, and then we went on a mission to find a watch (I didn't bring one with me, so I never know what time it is). We asked a woman in a shop, and she pointed in a direction and said 10 minutes. A couple of minutes later we asked someone else just to be sure, and they also told us 10 minutes. After about 5 minutes, we asked a third person, and they told us it was very far. When we asked if it was about 10 mintues, she said that no, it was much farther. So... we turned around. Who knows how long we would have been walking before we found it, or if we found it at all! haha.

It's pretty hot here in Vietnam. Around the 90's and very humid. But I like it so much more than the cold weather in North Carolina! The city is pretty noisy, and there are motorbikes everywhere! Crossing the street has definitely been an experience. you basically just have to walk out into the streets, watch for cars and just trust that the motorbikes will go around you. It was scary at first, but I'm starting to get used to it.

We meet our roommates today, which I'm really excited about. And I start taking Vietnamese classes on Monday. I'm so ready to start learning the language and really interacting with the culture here!

I would love to get emails from all of you, and I should be able to check every couple of days, except when we're on trips. I hope everything is going well with all of you!
